Our picks
GasBuddy
Find the cheapest fuel
Best for: Anyone in transportation hunting the cheapest diesel or gas, nearby or along the route: truckers and owner-operators, delivery and rideshare drivers, RVs, vans and box trucks
Strength: Free price map with a Diesel filter that sorts by price or distance, built on driver-reported prices. Search Along Route in the app shows stations and prices on the route you pick. The free Pay with GasBuddy+ card adds 3¢/gal off everywhere Mastercard is taken, with Auto Pay.
Limitation: Prices are reported by users, so some are hours old, and it shows posted pump prices, not truck-stop fleet discounts. Owner-operators buying 100+ gallons should also check Mudflap (free app, advertises up to $1.00/gal off at 3,600+ in-network truck stops).
Pricing (2026-10-19): Free app; Pay with GasBuddy+ card free with Auto Pay; Plus $7.99/mo or $89/yr; Premium $9.99/mo or $99/yr (20¢/gal off the first 50 gal a month, then 5¢/gal).

Fuelly
Track MPG on every fill-up
Best for: Drivers and small fleets who want the real MPG of every tank, logged on phone or web
Strength: Enter miles, gallons and price at each fill-up and it works out MPG for that tank. Gallons go to three decimals (12.345), partial and missed fill-ups are flagged so averages stay honest, and multiple vehicles, charts, service reminders and CSV reports are free.
Limitation: Per-tank MPG only works if you fill to the top; a partial fill waits for the next full one. It's a log you type into, not a sensor. Fleets with several drivers will outgrow it: Drivvo PRO ($4.90/mo) adds a second driver and up to 10 vehicles.
Pricing (2026-10-19): Free; Premium $0.99/mo or $7.99/yr in the iPhone app (removes ads, adds photo and PDF attachments).

Trucker Path
Find free truck parking
Best for: Truckers and owner-operators who need to know a lot has space before they take the exit
Strength: The free app shows real-time parking updates from other drivers at about 8,000 locations, with truck-stop details and reviews. It now also books paid reserved spots when the free ones are full.
Limitation: Free parking status is only as fresh as the last driver's update. Truck routing and parking predictions need the paid Diamond plan.
Pricing (2026-10-19): Free (parking updates included); Diamond $29.99/mo or $249.99/yr ($20.80/mo), 7-day free trial.

A semi burning about 150 gallons a week (roughly 975 miles at 6.5 MPG) saves about $65 a month when diesel is a dime cheaper. Run more miles and the savings grow with them.

Free truck parking: where to look
Free spots are first come, first served, and rules change. Always follow posted signs and time limits. Checked 2026-10-19.
freeparking.com: the known resource
Plenty of drivers know freeparking.com as the name to check for free parking, so we list it here.
Heads up: we checked freeparking.com on 2026-10-19. It currently redirects to names.co.uk, a UK domain-name and web-hosting company, so right now it is not a working truck parking site. Use the free tools and lists below, and we'll update this note if that changes.

Store lots (RVs and vans)
- Walmart: Walmart says it permits RV parking on store lots "as we are able," with permission from each store manager based on space and local laws. Its FAQ covers RVs only and says nothing about semis, so call the store first and follow posted signs. Source: Ask Walmart FAQ

Charging for electric trucks and cars
Checked 2026-10-19. Range and charging figures are the makers' own claims.
Find a charger: the free U.S. Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Data Center station locator maps public charging and alternative-fuel stations across the U.S. and Canada. Set the fuel type to Electric. We link to it instead of embedding the map so this page stays fast.
Truck charging networks
- Greenlane: the Greenlane Center in Colton, CA (I-10/I-215) is open 24/7 with 12 pull-through 400 kW and 29 bobtail 240 kW CCS chargers, trailer parking and overnight parking. Barstow and Baker on I-15 are listed as coming soon. Source: Greenlane locations

- Nikola Tre (battery and hydrogen): no longer sold new. Nikola went bankrupt in 2025, and Hyroad Energy bought 113 of its Tre fuel-cell trucks and its IP in the auction and supports Nikola trucks on the road, but has no plans to build new ones. Source: KJZZ, Feb 13, 2026
- International: its planned eRH electric semi was canceled in late 2025. The eMV is still sold, but it's a medium-duty box and service truck (about 135 miles typical), not a semi. Source: Transport Topics · International eMV
- Hybrid semis: we didn't find a hybrid Class 8 semi on sale that we could verify, so none are listed.
